2. Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs decided on Thursday, 22 November 2012, for mandatory mixing of certain percentage of ethanol in petrol across the country from next month. In 2009, the CCEA had decided to mix ethanol in petrol but it could not be implemented due to opposition by some sections in the chemical and petroleum sectors. Petroleum Ministry will issue a gazette notification in a next few days, for oil companies to implement mandatory ethanol blending with petrol from 2012-13 sugar season, effective from December 1, 2012. 3. On Thursday, 22 November 2012, India approved a new drug pricing policy designed to increase the number of drugs deemed essential that are subject to price caps. The new policy is expected to cover up to 30 percent of the total drugs sold in the country, according to industry reports. Under the new policy, the ceiling price of a particular drug would be calculated by taking the arithmetic mean of the prices of all the brands that have more than 1 percent market share. Patented drugs are not covered by the policy, though India is considering a mechanism to regulate prices of medicines which are covered by patent protection. 4. On Thursday, 22 November 2012, researchers claim to have developed the 'world's first smart bag' that can charge your electronic devices like mobiles and laptops besides storing them. The bag pairs directly with your smartphone via Bluetooth. Using that connection, one can monitor how much reserved power you're packing. The pairing can also work as a pseudo-tracking device, the report said. 5. On Friday, 23rd November 2012, the indigenous Advanced Air Defence (AAD) interceptor missile would be fired from Wheeler Island off the coast near Dhamra in Bhadrak district and kill an incoming ballistic missile to be launched from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur in Balasore. During the exercise, a modified surface to surface Prithvi missile would act as a hostile target which would be lifted off from ITR at Chandipur on sea, about 230 km from Bhubaneswar. The interceptor missile would be launched from Wheeler Island, about 70 km across sea from Chandipur to destroy the target. The November 23 launch is India’s ______th interceptor missile mission.
