1. Tensions continue to mount on the Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan suspending the cross-LoC bus that plies on the Poonch-Rawalakote (Pakistan-occupied Kashmir) route in Jammu division. The weekly bus, which was slated to cross Chakan-da-Bagh crossing on Monday, will not ply on that day due to the tension on the LoC. The bus was slated to carry 32 passengers from this side to meet their relatives across the LoC. The decision to suspend the cross LoC bus has come a day after Pakistan unilaterally suspended the cross-LoC trade on Poonch-Rawalakote route when they did not open the gates at Chakan-da-Bagh crossing. 2. The Election Commission on Friday, 11 January 2013, announced elections/by-elections for the Legislative Assemblies of 10 States. This includes regular polls to be held in three northeastern states besides by-elections to nine assembly seats in seven states. Elections will be held in one state on February 14 while in other two will be held on February 23. Polling in the nine bye-elections will be held a day later, on February 24. 4. Television crime show Crime Patrol Dastak postponed a scheduled episode on last month’s brutal gang-rape of a Delhi girl, following “advice” from the Central government. 5. Kumbh Mela 2013 will be held from January 14 to March 10.
